Restoring/Modifying a 2nd-Gen Camaro

Why Build a website about your 2nd Gen Camaro Resto/Customization?

We hope that you will find the information, walk-thoughs, photos, and stories to be as motivating, and informative as we do. This site was founded as a Father's Day gift for my Dad...who was the original owner of the '71 Camaro SS (even though it was initially my mother's car brand new). I knew that when I purchased a brand new 2002 Camaro SS, that my dad thought that the second generation car would be parked. And I could tell in his eyes, that he thought the camaro would just collect dust or even be sold. Well, I had bigger plans for the car, though I didn't have the time or money that would be required of restoring and modifying the car to match my vision of it. So he was partially right, the 1971 Second Generation piece of history did stay parked in the garage, as I bought a new house, and immersed myself in my work. In fact, the 1971 Camaro pretty much just sat there for 3 years. However, over the past 6 months, my time and money had been freed up, to once again bring the 1971 SS to life. About 2 weeks before Father's Day, I brought the Camaro out of the garage, cleaned it up, got antique plates, tuned it up and got it running.

It is always difficult to shop for father's day...however, I knew that I could deliver to him his younger years, by bringing the all-but forgotten 1971 back to him. It was as fun as I had hoped, and I saw a side of my father that I hadn't seen in years. You could tell that years of memories rushed back to him, as they did for me. From that experience on Father's Day, I knew that I had to keep him updated on the progress of the restoration (I use the term loosely) of the Second Generation F-Body. The best way to do that was through a website due to his constant travel.

Somewhere along the way, I realized that the web was vastly lacking in shared experiences with specific applications, and decided to format the site as a Journal of experiences during the rebuild process. That way, hopefully someone else could also benefit, as they began to undergo the restoration of their own Second Generation Camaro. Therefore these pages are dedicated to my Father, and to every gear-head 2nd Gen Camaro lover, who is looking for more information on how to find good parts, avoid troublesome reproductions, and restore or modify their 2nd Generation Camaro to match their dream.

My car is not perfect, trust me I know...but after all, what fun would a website be if the car was already completed? Even being a 6+ year technician and a 6+ year Automotive Instructor, I make many mistakes along the way, don't we all? After all, that is the point...Make Mistakes, learn something, have fun, and help someone else along the way. Seems like a noble goal in life!
